Redemption Lodge No. 24 was warranted on November 29, 1930.

In the year 1927 Brother Henry I. Gordon, a working member and Past Senior Warden of Eureka No. 5, petitioned MWGM Charles P. Ford who granted permission for a masonic club.

The club was formed on October 14,1927. Brother Henry I. Gordon was appointed president and brother William Carpenter served as secretary. This club worked diligently for months and applied for Masonic identification under Dispensation.

Dispensation was granted with P.M. George H. Ambler as Acting Master. After being under dispensation for twenty-eight months, the Lodge applied to Most Worshipful Grand Master Albert F. Dotson for a new Master. As a result, P.M. William Westray was appointed as Worshipful Master U.D.

Under Brother Westray’s excellent leadership, a charter was applied for in the name of Redemption lodge No. 24 and this petition was granted. In six months 60 names were added to the roster.

On Saturday evening November 30, 1930 at the Masonic temple, 1000 U Street NW, The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia constituted, dedicated, and Chartered Redemption Lodge No. 24 into the Masonic Family.

The following officers were installed: Henry I. Gordon, Worshipful Master, William H. Carpenter; Senior Warden, Charles E. Walden, Junior Warden; William M. Rouse, Treasurer; Robert Campbell, Secretary; Charles S. Fletcher, Senior Deacon; Everett O. Bailey, Junior Deacon; William O. Murray, Senior Master of Ceremonies; William H.
